Learning how to live in the wilderness is a journey best begun in Nature. This weekend offers just this opportunity. You will camp out at Backies, Anam Cara’s newly acquired wild woodland near Golspie, where traditional hand-skills and survival techniques will be taught in an outdoor base camp around a warm campfire.
During the weekend you will learn several fire-making techniques from Neolithic to modern time, carve wooden utensils, work with bone or antler, identify useful plants and learn about their incredible uses, become a skilled and safe knife user, make natural cordage, ancient tinder and much more.
You will be offered simple wholesome meals prepared and cooked with lots of love, and always a kettle on the fire for plenty teas and coffees.
Please bring the following items:
- Warm outdoor clothing and water proofs
- Tent, sleeping bag, sleeping mat, (bivvy bag optional)
- Head torch
- Notebook and pencils
- Mug, plate, utensils, water bottle
You will be taught by Willow Lohr, an experienced and well respected bush-craft instructor, who specialises in ancient crafts and survival skills.
